Cameras with interchangeable lenses, so mirrorless cameras or DSLRs, excel at showing perspectives your eyes can’t see. If you look at the top picture which was made with the long tele-lens, your eyes are drawn to the colors, graphical patterns and to the askew lines that in the second picture stay hidden. Both pictures were made with the AF-S Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6, but in the first picture, it was set to 400 mm and combined with the Nikkor TC-E14 II, a 1.4 x teleconverter. The combination of the lens and the converter are ideal for full-frame travel photography in my opinion. For portraits with a beautiful background you should combine it with an 85mm f/1.4 though. It offers a much higher quality than an F-mount 70-200 mm combined with a 2x converter. Another picture made with almost the same focal length (510 mm) is shown on the cover of the book ‘Fotograferen met een fullframe systeemcamera‘.
